It's now easier to keep your team updated
Delivering full functionality even when offline, Simpel’s new defecting app is designed for use by developers, contractors, subcontractors, and stakeholders involved in the creation, management, completion and close-out of defects and tasks. Whether onsite or in the office, the new app ensures each stakeholder can action tasks, or review the real-time status of defects and tasks.
Organise QA Inspections via location-linked tasking
Designed to extend the usability and functionality currently provided in Simpel’s Quality module, QTrack; the new app enables more efficient organisation and faster creation of drawing and location-linked tasks using a mobile or tablet.
What is location-linked tasking?
Location-linked QA Inspections and tasking is unique to Simpel’s QTrack module. Arising from the need to help project teams centralise inspection-based tasks and manage them by location; the app allows workers to easily create and group tasks, and link them to a digital drawing. A group of location-linked tasks is called a QTrack inspection
QTrack inspections can have unlimited tasks, all co-located to a specific location on a plan, e.g. an entire floor, an apartment block, a hospital ward or an apartment unit. Exact grouping of tasks is determined by the user or admin.
Project teams then use the QTrack module to evaluate the overall status of QA inspections by location and in real-time, (e.g. “Defecting on Level 1 = 30% complete, vs Level 2 = 70% complete as at 3pm”). This helps teams to identify delays, better manage resources and workers, and to streamline defect management and resolution, regardless of the project’s size and complexity.
Comprehensive oversight and control of QA Inspections
One project can have hundreds of tasks, making efficient defect management critical to maintaining everyone's sanity, increasing productivity, and ensuring no one cuts corners or skips on the details.
The new app includes the following functionality making inspections more efficient and easier to manage:
- Raise tasks faster with pre-filled forms and custom dropdown lists which reduce the need to select or re-type repetitive details hundreds of times. Standardised data entry across users also ensures consistent data is collected between users and across projects.
- Role-based security permissions cater to the specific needs and relationships between developers, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring secure access and data confidentiality is maintained
- Automated, real-time data synchronisation across users and projects means users don’t need to download new files or check they are working off the latest plan. If a file is updated in Simpel’s platform, the change rolls out across the project and the file is automatically updated for every user
- Full auditability of task workflows, including creation, completion, closure, and attached photos. Comprehensive data records help a team identify points of failure, and enhance transparency and accountability
- Take photos, markup and attach them to tasks within the app - this facilitates clear communication and documentation
- Force upload can be turned on by the admin to require workers to include evidence of task completion, e.g. photos of repairs, ensuring comprehensive record-keeping and verification of completion.
Full offline functionality - Raise a defect from any location
Defecting and task management often occurs in locations without good internet signal, including basements, carparks, and remote or regional locations.
The workaround for this is to take handwritten notes, mark up a paper drawing, or put everything in an email or spreadsheet. However, this leads to lost tasks, delays in communicating tasks, unclear task descriptions or locations, and inconsistent/ absent notification of task status to people in the team.
To eliminate these issues, Simpel has delivered a true offline app that prioritises completion of inspections, is fast and doesn’t consume all your device’s data or storage capacity.
Using the app, workers can now undertake and complete inspections and tasks anywhere, ensuring uninterrupted productivity. Then, once the worker regains internet connectivity, all new tasks, markups, and updates are synced back to the cloud. This ensures task updates are immediately available to the project team and relevant stakeholders are notified of new changes in real-time.

There is much more functionality so see in the module including reporting, QR Hit Lists, and additional customisation of forms and workflows.
Matt, our Client Success Manager, has created a short video demonstrating how to use the QTrack module on both the native app and web application.
