Position Overview
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is a vital member of the sales team, specialising in lead generation, outreach, prospecting, and qualification. In this role, you will actively engage with prospective customers to assess their needs and determine their potential for conversion into valued clients.
This position offers a clear pathway for growth and development, with opportunities to advance into one of two career tracks:
- Account Executive (AE): Take ownership of the sales process, closing deals, and driving revenue directly.
- Customer Success (CS): Focus on onboarding and managing customers, with opportunities to foster long-term relationships and maximise account value through upselling and cross-selling.
This role is ideal for individuals eager to build a foundation in sales while exploring career progression tailored to their strengths and interests.
Key Responsibilities
- Deep Product Knowledge: Develop a thorough understanding of our SaaS platform, its features, benefits, and the value it brings to the construction industry
- Prospecting and Outreach: Conduct targeted outreach via phone calls, emails, social media (Linkedin), and other communication channels to generate new business opportunities.
- Lead Qualification: Qualify inbound and outbound leads through initial discovery calls and research, identifying key decision-makers and understanding their needs and pain points.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Efficiently manage and track leads in the CRM system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information on all sales activities and opportunities.

Personalised Engagement: Tailor engagement strategies to specific prospects, understanding their unique challenges and presenting how our platform can address their needs.

Collaboration with Account Executives: Work closely with Account Executives and the COO to schedule meetings, demos, and follow-up appointments, ensuring a smooth handoff of qualified leads.

Market Research: Conduct ongoing market research to identify new business opportunities and stay informed about industry trends, competitors, and potential partnerships.

Event Participation: Represent Simpel at industry events, trade shows, webinars, and conferences, generating leads and building relationships with potential customers.

Reporting and Analysis: Regularly report on key metrics, including lead generation, conversion rates, and sales pipeline health, and provide insights and recommendations for improvement.

Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance sales skills, product knowledge, and industry expertise.
About You
You are a driven and pro-active person who has an interest in property and/or software. You are also passionate about a career that focuses on people and you thrive off the satisfaction gained from achieving success. Other requirements include:
- Proven work experience as a Sales Development Representative or similar role
- Ideally 1+ years in SAAS or software sales
- Familiar with CRM practices along with ability to build productive business professional relationships
- Experience in Construction Industry is valued but not required.
- High energy, passionate, positive attitude and well presented
- Process driven with the ability to work in a team as well as a self-starter basis
- Excellent written and verbal skills with a high attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Thrives in a fast-moving environment with the ability to multitask.
